En tout cas, j'ai trois piliers importants : un pilier de mon père qui était bulgare ; un pilier chinois par ma mère, et puis la France – d'une certaine manière, tous ces piliers me maintiennent en vie. » ---Interview de Phénix Varbanov, septembre 2023谈到宋小松（Phénix Varbanov），似乎很难绕过他的父母——父亲是保加利亚人，著名壁挂艺术家万曼（Maryn Varbanov）；母亲是中国人宋怀桂，她将知名法国服装品牌皮尔·卡丹引入，并在北京开办了马克西姆餐厅，她是法国饮食文化和服装艺术的传播者，是我国最早的时尚先驱。两位艺术家的跨国婚姻得到了周总理的特批与祝福，而宋小松就是他们爱情的结晶。When it comes to Song Xiaosong(Phénix Varbanov), it seems difficult not to mention his pa’rents—his father, the Bulgarian Maryn Varbanov, a renowned tapestry artist; and his mother, the Chinese Song Huaigui, who introduced the famous French fashion brand Pierre Cardin to China and opened the Maxim's restaurant in Beijing. She was a disseminator of French culinary culture and fashion art, as well as one of China's earliest fashion pioneers. The transnational marriage of these two artists received special approval and blessings from Premier Zhou Enlai, and Song Xiaosong is the child born out of their love.Quand on parle de Song Xiaosong (Phénix Varbanov), il semble difficile de ne pas évoquer ses parents : son père, le Bulgare Maryn Varbanov, un artiste de renom dans l'art de la tapisserie ; et sa mère, la Chinoise Song Huaigui, qui a introduit en Chine la célèbre marque de mode française Pierre Cardin et ouvert le restaurant Maxim's à Pékin. 宋小松的英文名叫Phoenix，法语为Phénix，译为凤凰。在古埃及艺术中，凤凰的描绘与太阳神联系在一起，并被认为是重生和复活的永恒循环的体现。而在中国，凤（fèng）字代表雄性，凰（huáng）代表雌性。中国文化中的凤凰概念也包含阴阳原理。雄性凤凰象征着阳能量，象征着太阳、光明和主动，雌性凤凰象征着阴能量，象征着月亮、黑暗和被动。两只凤凰的结合象征着对立面之间的和谐，创造了世间所必需的完美平衡。不难发现，这种阴阳的形式在其作品中亦无处不在。Song Xiaosong's English name is Phoenix, and in French, it is Phénix, which translates to "凤凰" (Fenghuang). In ancient Egyptian art, the depiction of the phoenix is associated with the sun god and is regarded as the embodiment of an eternal cycle of rebirth and resurrection. In China, the character "凤" (fèng) represents the male, while "凰" (huáng) represents the female. The concept of the Fenghuang in Chinese culture also incorporates the principle of yin and yang. The male Fenghuang symbolizes yang energy, representing the sun, light, and activity, while the female Fenghuang symbolizes yin energy, representing the moon, darkness, and passivity. The union of the two Fenghuang symbolizes harmony between opposites, creating the perfect balance essential to the world. It is not difficult to see that this form of yin and yang is also omnipresent in his works.Song Xiaosong porte le nom anglais Phoenix, qui se dit Phénix en français, équivalent au « 凤凰 » (Fenghuang) chinois. Like his artworks, we are composed of folded, ever-shifting identities. We attempt to examine the gaps and fissures within ourselves or in the external world, yet these very spaces constantly prompt us to reconsider our sense of identity. It is precisely these interstices that provide opportunities for self-reflection and self-discovery. They can be both liberating and challenging.Song Xiaosong suggère que chaque individu est un "Phénix" existant entre ciel et terre.
